This weekend was Art in Bloom at the MFA here in Boston. It is one of my favorite yearly exhibitions and lasts only 3 days-sometimes shorter depending on the flowers. Art in Bloom is when floral designers are assigned an art object (a painting, photo, plate, sculpture, piece of furniture, etc) and create a floral arrangements to mimics it. I have been going ever year for a number of years and even hosted my own Art in Bloom at the gallery I used to work at. One of my friends, Cindy Knight, has been designing floral arrangements for the MFA's Art in Bloom for over 23 years. Not only is she an amazing designer, she is so knowledgeable on all things flowers. (Her arrangement was selected to accompany this blog posting.) What better way to spend a Saturday than to assemble the girls, meet up with Cindy for an "insiders" tour of the 35+ arrangements and have brunch! The perfect brunch bubbly to accompany our Girls Afternoon out is Pomegranate Bellinis.
To recreate Pomegranate Bellinins:
- 200ml (7fl oz) pomegranate juice
- 1 x 75cl bottle of sparkling rosé wine
- 2tbsp fresh pomegranate seeds
Spoon 25ml (1fl oz) pomegranate juice into each of 8 Champagne flutes and carefully top up with chilled, sparkling rosé.
Garnish each drink with a few fresh pomegranate seeds, then serve immediately. Enjoy with your favorite group of ladies.
